Verse of the Day: “And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” - Hebrews 9:27-28
“And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment”.....We will all die one day. When we die, we will be judged for the lives we lived here on earth. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” This sounds pretty scary right? Well, we have good news.
“So also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people”......If there is something to thank Jesus for every day, it’s His sacrifice that He made on the cross to wash us clean. If it weren’t for Jesus, we all would be destined for damnation. All that are born of the flesh, are born in sin. The only solution for dealing with our sin is Jesus. Only Jesus can take away our sins. And it required an all-time sacrifice from Christ to be made possible. Let us thank Jesus for dying for us so that we could live.
“He will come again”......This is good news, saints. The return of Christ is victory. We already have access to Christ’s eternal victory when we accept Him, follow Him, trust Him and obey Him. In addition to this, Jesus will return and defeat death once and for all time. We will see Him coming down from the clouds. Here is how Christ paints His return in the Gospel of Luke.
“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” - Luke 21:25-28
“Not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him”.......Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is the solution to our sin. He died and paid the penalty for us, a gift that we do not deserve, but He did anyway. This is how our sin is dealt with. However, Jesus is returning once more to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. Let us get ready for His return. Let us live lives that reflect the love and kindness of Christ. Let us be a witness to Jesus and lead others to Him. He is the only way to salvation. We cannot get to the Father without first coming to Jesus. Let us do what we can to wait in expectation for His coming.
“You must also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” - Luke 12:40
